Milestone - Accessing Milestone

This article covers how to access the Milestone system for viewing and exporting security camera footage.

Prerequisites

Must be a UWS employee and have an active UWS account

Must have authorization from Facilities
Must have permissions added by IT

Steps

Accessing Milestone via Web Browser

Open a web browser and go to https://milestone.uws.edu:8443/index.html
Login with your UWS username and password

Once logged in, you will see a column for each viewing profile you have access to

Select a viewing profile and group to see camera feeds
1. To create, edit or delete viewing profiles and groups, use the Smart Client

Via the XProtect Smart Client (Desktop Application)

Open a web browser and go to https://workspace.uws.edu
Login with your UWS username and password
Under Apps, select "XProtect Smart Client"
Wait a few moments for the application to launch
Make sure the following values are set:
1. Computer: “VMS-UOWS”
2. Authentication: “Windows authentication (current user)”

Click “Connect”
Once logged in, you will see a navigation pane to the left with each viewing profile you have access to
Select a viewing profile and a view group see camera feeds
1. To create, edit or delete viewing profiles and groups, select “Setup” in the top right corner to enter Setup mode
2. Once in Setup mode, the profiles and groups become editable
