How To Use Your Teams Phone
Find your Phone Number.
- To find your phone number click on the calls tab in your Teams application.
- Look under your dial pad for your direct phone number.
Make an External Phone Call.
- To make an external phone call, enter the phone number above the dial pad with your mouse or keyboard for the number you wish to call and click on call.
Make an Internal Phone Call.
- From the Calls Tab, you can either enter their phone number, like above, if you know it or you can type in their name and select them from the list that appears and click on Call.
- While in a chat with someone or in a group chat, you can click on the Video camera or the phone icon in the upper right corner of your Teams app to initiate a call with the other person or people.
Answer Incoming Calls.
- To answer an incoming phone call, click on the left, blue or purpleish, phone icon.
Incoming call to your direct line. Incoming call to Queue.
- To decline an incoming call, click on the right, red, phone icon.

Call Window
- In this window you see the Call duration, incoming call number, hidden dial pad, participants, call options, mute, and your hang-up button.
- Call Duration – length of call.
- Incoming call number – caller ID of the number that you are connected to.
- Hidden dial pad- Click on this to show your dial pad if needed.
- Participants – Shows people on the current call.
- Call options – Click on this to show call options covered later.
- Mute – Mutes your current call.
- Leave button – Hangs up your current call.
Call Options
- Click on the 3 dots at the top right side of your call window to show your call options.

Hold – Places a call on hold for you to pick up when you are ready.
- To place a call on hold click on Hold.
- To resume your call, click on resume in your call window.

Transfer – Transfer a call to another number or person without speaking to them first.
- To transfer a call, select transfer from the call options.
- Start typing in a name, select the person you want to transfer the call to and click on transfer.
- You can turn on the switch to call you back if no one answers.
- You can also click on the drop down by Transfer and transfer the call directly to someone’s voicemail if available.

Consult then transfer – Speak to the person before transferring the call to them.
- To consult first with a person then transfer them click on consult then transfer call option.
- To consult with a person, enter their name and click on them. Then you can chat with the person via Teams or click on the drop down menu by Chat to call the person in Teams or call their direct number.

Park Call – Put a call on hold for anyone that has the code can pick up.
- To park a call, click on the Park Call option and you will be given a 2-digit code.
- To pick up a parked call, go to your Calls tab in Teams and click on the parked calls button under your dial pad.
- The pick up parked call window will open and you will need to know and enter the 2-digit code that the call was parked on and enter it then click on pick-up.
